Amy B. Carnahan works mainly in ceramic and illustration medium while using her background in architecture to develop her personal aesthetic.
Growing up in Arvada, Colorado, Amy enjoyed a view of the incredible mountain range from her front yard and had an early appreciation of the rugged beauty of the Rockies. Later on, the school of architecture would take her to urban settings such as Chicago, New York City, and Rome. Whether it’s a rural mountain meadow or a dense urban block, Amy continues to find inspiration in her surroundings.
Amy learned to sketch, draft, and sculpt in college where she earned a Bachelor of Architecture and Ceramic Art Minor from the University of Arkansas. After several years in Little Rock, Arkansas working full-time as an architect and part-time as an artist, she moved to Baltimore with her husband. There she would become involved in the local clay community as a resident artist and teacher at Baltimore Clayworks.
In 2015, Amy moved with her growing family back to her roots in Colorado. She currently works from her home studio in Fort Collins.
